Discussions addressed the roles of explanations in the AI life cycle, how explainable AI fits into the trustworthy AI ecosystem, and what a risk management strategy looks like for explainable AI.

This workshop aimed to develop a shared understanding of bias in AI that can guide and speed the innovation and adoption of trustworthy AI systems, including measurements, standards, and related tools. This workshop aimed to build a community of interest for NIST’s multi-faceted work in this area, which includes foundational and use-inspired research, evaluation, standards, and policy engagement.
